SUMMARY:Ice Diving Operations
DESCRIPTION:OBJECTIVE\nDive Rescue International’s Ice Diving Operations training readies agency personnel for cold water diving with overhead obstructions. Participants will be able to plan and execute an emergency ice diving operation; select\, evaluate\, and perform field maintenance on ice diving equipment; and dive safely under ice in order to complete a rescue/recovery mission. These training objectives are transferable to incidents as independent skills. \nMAIN TOPICS\n\nDry Suit Selection\nFull Face Mask Selection and Use\nSpecialized Equipment\nCommunication Needs\nSurface-Supplied Air Systems\nIce Diving Protocols\nRescue vs. Recovery Mode\nRisk/Benefit Factors\nBoat vs. Ice-Based Operations\nEmergency Procedures\nEquipment Field Maintenance\nTethered Diving Techniques\n\nPREREQUISITES\n\nAt least 18 years of age\nMember of a Public Safety Agency\nRSTC Medical Statement\nOpen Water Certification\nDive Rescue 1 Certification\nProof of Dry Suit Diving certificate\, if applicable\nPhysically fit (13 MET or greater recommended)\n\nBRING TO CLASS\nAll students will need: \n\nU.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)\nA knife\nA whistle\nAdequate clothing for working outside\nPen and paper for taking notes and sketching\n\nDiving students must provide their own equipment: \n\nWetsuit or Drysuit\nScuba regulator- recently serviced and environmentally protected with alternate air source (i.e.: Octopus\, Air II\, ect.)\nTiming device\nDepth and submersible pressure gauge\nBC with oral/power inflator\nTwo tanks with current Hydro & VIP\nFull Face Mask & Fins\nWeight belt\nTwo cutting tools (knife\, wire cutters\, or trauma shears)
