DESCRIPTION:OBJECTIVE\nThe Dive Rescue 1 Trainer (DR1T) program is an intensive leadership course designed for experienced scuba instructors aiming to certify their department personnel as Dive Rescue 1 Specialists. This program introduces specialized teaching techniques tailored to the educational needs of emergency services adult learners\, enhancing instructors’ abilities to foster a positive learning environment. Graduates will be equipped to teach and certify divers in the fundamentals of dive team operations\, ensuring their teams are prepared for effective and safe responses to water-related emergencies. \nPREREQUISITES\n\nSponsorship by a Public Safety Agency\nAt least 21 years old\nCurrent Dive Rescue 1 certification\nCompletion of Med Dive [must be 2 day (20 hour) course]\nA minimum of 100 logged dives (at least 50% must be training/operational dives while remaining 50% can be recreational dives with only 2\npool dives/year acceptable)\nCurrent First Aid\, EMT or Paramedic certification\nCurrent CPR certification\n\nBRING TO CLASS\nUS Coast Guard approved PFD with knife and whistle\, adequate clothing and protection from the environment and pen and paper for note- taking and sketching. \nDiving students must provide their own equipment: Wetsuit or dry suit\, scuba regulator: recently serviced + environmentally protected with alternate air source (i.e.: octopus)\, timing device\, depth + submersible pressure gauge\, BC with oral/power inflator\, 4 tanks with current Hydro + VIP\, mask\, snorkel\, fins\, weight belt + 2 cutting tools (knife\, wire cutters\, or trauma shears).
