SUMMARY:Swiftwater Rescue Trainer
DESCRIPTION:OBJECTIVE\nSuccessful completion of the Swiftwater Rescue Trainer (SWRT) program provides the instructor with the skills required to certify their members as Swiftwater Rescue Specialists (as well as Swiftwater Rescue Shore Support Tenders) at both a basic (SWRI) and advanced level (SWRII). Instructors will be able to equip their students to respond to one of the most high-risk environments: swiftwater and flood response. The course includes a SWRII program overview\, site preparation for swiftwater course operations\, site survey hazard identification\, personal protective equipment\, in addition to practicing proven river rescue exercises. Obtaining the SWRT certification allows the instructor to teach the Swiftwater Rescue Specialist program in-house and to mutual aid departments. \nPREREQUISITES\n\nAt least 21 years of age\nMember of a Public Safety Agency\nProof of current First Aid and CPR training\nSwiftwater Rescue I & II Certification\n\nBRING TO CLASS\nAll students will need: \n\nU.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)\nA knife\nA whistle\nAdequate clothing for working outside\nPen and paper for taking notes
