SUMMARY:Rapid Intervention Techniques Trainer
DESCRIPTION:OBJECTIVE\nSuccessful completion of the Rapid Intervention Techniques Trainer program provides the skills required to improve divers’ ability to assess and respond to a PSD in distress – whether submerged or at the surface – and from a vessel or the shore. Instructors will work with RIT specific equipment such as contingency air cylinders and rapid diver systems during in-class scenarios. \nPREREQUISITES\n\nMember of a Public Safety Agency\nAt least 21 years old\nRSTC Medical Statement\nCurrent First Aid\, EMT or Paramedic certification\nCurrent CPR certification\n\nBRING TO CLASS\n\nUS Coast Guard approved PFD with knife and whistle\nAdequate clothing and protection from the environment\nPen and paper for note- taking and sketching.\n\nDiving students must provide their own equipment: Wetsuit or dry suit\, scuba regulator: recently serviced + environmentally\nprotected with alternate air source (i.e.: octopus)\, timing device\, depth + submersible pressure gauge\, BC with oral/power inflator\,\n4 tanks with current Hydro + VIP\, mask\, snorkel\, fins\, weight belt + 2 cutting tools (knife\, wire cutters\, or trauma shears).

SUMMARY:Light Salvage & Recovery
DESCRIPTION:OBJECTIVE\nThe focus of the program will be conducting salvage operations as they apply to underwater crime scenes and investigations. The techniques taught in this program can be applied to the salvage or recovery of boats\, automobiles and aircraft. By teaching your dive members to complete safe salvage operations\, you can offer an environmentally conscious service to your community. Students should be prepared to make several lifts using various techniques. \nPREREQUISITES\n\nMember of a Public Safety Agency\nAt least 18 years old\nRSTC Medical Statement\nCurrent First Aid\, EMT or Paramedic certification\nCurrent CPR certification\n\nBRING TO CLASS\n\nUS Coast Guard approved PFD with knife and whistle\nAdequate clothing and protection from the environment\nPen and paper for note- taking and sketching.\n\nDiving students must provide their own equipment: Wetsuit or dry suit\, scuba regulator: recently serviced + environmentally\nprotected with alternate air source (i.e.: octopus)\, timing device\, depth + submersible pressure gauge\, BC with oral/power inflator\,\n4 tanks with current Hydro + VIP\, mask\, snorkel\, fins\, weight belt + 2 cutting tools (knife\, wire cutters\, or trauma shears).

SUMMARY:Rapid Intervention Techniques
DESCRIPTION:OBJECTIVE\nThe Dive Rescue II course is an intensive four-day program combining critical skills diving and rapid intervention techniques into one comprehensive training. CSD training focuses on building in-water confidence through repetition\, emphasizing muscle memory\, stress responses\, and emergency preparedness. Students practice key skills to prevent and manage diving emergencies effectively. After completing the RIT program\, the Public Safety Diver (PSD) will have established the baseline skills\, knowledge\, and abilities to recognize and respond to a PSD in distress on the surface or submerged. This course addresses requisite knowledge requirements found in NFPA standards. \nPREREQUISITES\n\nAt least 18 years of age\nMember of a Public Safety Agency\nRSTC Medical Statement\nOpen Water Certification\nPhysically fit (13 MET or greater recommended)\n\nBRING TO CLASS\nAll students will need: \n\nU.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)\nA knife\nA whistle\nAdequate clothing for working outside\nPen and paper for taking notes and sketching\n\nDiving students must provide their own equipment: \n\nWetsuit or Drysuit\nScuba regulator- recently serviced and environmentally\nprotected with alternate air source (i.e.: Octopus\, Air II\, ect.)\nTiming device\nDepth and submersible pressure gauge\nBC with oral/power inflator\nTwo tanks with current Hydro & VIP\nFull Face Mask\, Snorkel\, & Fins\nWeight belt\nTwo cutting tools (knife\, wire cutters\, or trauma shears)

SUMMARY:Critical Skills Diver
DESCRIPTION:OBJECTIVE\nCritical Skills Diver training prepares Public Safety Divers (PSDs) to use repetition in training as a means to improve in water confidence and competence. PSDs are introduced to the concepts of muscle memory\, stress survival responses\, and crisis rehearsal for self-rescue. Proper response to key underwater emergencies are examined and practiced. Student skill level evolves through repetition of familiar and unfamiliar challenges. Simply\, this course introduces the knowledge and skills that help PSDs develop the ability to prevent and / or survive a diving emergency. \nPREREQUISITES\n\nMember of a Public Safety Agency\nAt least 18 years old\nRSTC Medical Statement\nCurrent First Aid\, EMT or Paramedic certification\nCurrent CPR certification\n\nBRING TO CLASS\n\nUS Coast Guard approved PFD with knife and whistle\nAdequate clothing and protection from the environment\nPen and paper for note- taking and sketching.\n\nDiving students must provide their own equipment: Wetsuit or dry suit\, scuba regulator: recently serviced + environmentally protected with alternate air source (i.e.: octopus)\, timing device\, depth + submersible pressure gauge\, BC with oral/power inflator\, 4 tanks with current Hydro + VIP\, mask\, snorkel\, fins\, weight belt + 2 cutting tools (knife\, wire cutters\, or trauma shears).

SUMMARY:Dry Suit Repair
DESCRIPTION:OBJECTIVE\nStudents in this class will discuss how to maintain and repair minor tears\, punctures\, and holes in vulcanized rubber and trilaminate dry suits. There will be a demonstration of wrist ring\, cuff seal\, neck seal\, and hood installation. Leak testing procedures will also be addressed. Glue and patch materials will be provided for training use during the class.
