This type of natural disaster is becoming a more common scenario and communities are demanding rescue providers be prepared with flood rescue training. The enormity of flooding incidents makes planning critical to your team’s success. Floods vary in duration and intensity\, but the concepts for conducting rescue and recovery operations are similar. Prepare for these special hazards by learning how to organize and manage safe floodwater rescue operations. SUMMARY:Dive Rescue 1
DESCRIPTION:OBJECTIVE\nSuccessful completion of the Dive Rescue 1 (DR1) program provides basic methods and skills necessary for a Public Safety Diver (PSD) to function safely and effectively at a water accident. From scene evaluation to incident debriefing\, this program covers it all. Diving and surface support personnel learn to apply the latest techniques in underwater rescue and recovery to prepare them to respond effectively and safely to water incidents. This program is presented in the classroom\, pool and open-water to allow students to become familiar with the techniques prior to field scenarios. Successful completion of this program is measured in class participation (including 2 dives) and an end of program comprehensive test. \nPREREQUISITES\n\nAt least 18 years of age\nMember of a Public Safety Agency\nRSTC Medical Statement\nOpen Water Certification\nProof of Dry Suit Diving certificate\, if applicable\nPhysically fit (13 MET or greater recommended)\n\nBRING TO CLASS\nAll students will need: \n\nU.S. Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD)\nA knife\nA whistle\nAdequate clothing for working outside\nPen and paper for taking notes and sketching\n\nDiving students must provide their own equipment: \n\nWetsuit or Drysuit\nScuba regulator- recently serviced and environmentally protected with alternate air source (i.e.: Octopus\, Air II\, ect.)\nTiming device\nDepth and submersible pressure gauge\nBC with oral/power inflator\nTwo tanks with current Hydro & VIP\nFull Face Mask & Fins\nWeight belt\nTwo cutting tools (knife\, wire cutters\, or trauma shears)
