SUMMARY:Med Dive
DESCRIPTION:OBJECTIVE\nSuccessful completion of the Med Dive 1 program provides the student with skills required to improve their ability to recognize potentially life-threatening signs and symptoms associated with scuba diving injuries. Learning the cause\, affects\, signs\, and symptoms of decompression illness and arterial gas embolism will be discussed\, as well as in-field stabilization. \nPREREQUISITES\n\nMember of a Public Safety Agency\nAt least 18 years old\nRSTC Medical Statement\nCurrent First Aid\, EMT or Paramedic certification\nCurrent CPR certification\n\nBRING TO CLASS\n\nUS Coast Guard approved PFD with knife and whistle\nAdequate clothing and protection from the environment\nPen and paper for note- taking and sketching.\n\nDiving students must provide their own equipment: Wetsuit or dry suit\, scuba regulator: recently serviced + environmentally\nprotected with alternate air source (i.e.: octopus)\, timing device\, depth + submersible pressure gauge\, BC with oral/power inflator\,\n4 tanks with current Hydro + VIP\, mask\, snorkel\, fins\, weight belt + 2 cutting tools (knife\, wire cutters\, or trauma shears).

These cost effective systems provide First Responders with an affordable solution for underwater search operations. The system features the same style imagery as traditional side scan sonar systems and requires many of the same image interpretation skills required for towed sonar systems. This program will guide you through the setup\, use\, and limitations of these side imaging sonars. The program also provides imagery of drowning victims and victim surrogates for comprehensive training.
